Why Networks in South America Choose London as their Landing Location

Whether you want to connect your customers to content abroad or bring your own region’s content to a new audience, it helps to have a direct connection to global content networks. LINX have a growing number of networks from LATAM regions joining their interconnection platform in London to get their content closer to the end user.

Whether it’s gaming, gambling or online content, we work closely with our trusted partners to improve their network performance.”

Your Gateway to Europe with LINX & Telxius

LINX work with their reseller partners Telxius to bring networks from South America to London to meet other key networks and transfer data or ‘peer’.

Telxius is a Tier I ISP in LATAM and Europe with extensive peering activity and access to over 300 million fixed and mobile broadband users. Telxius’ Tier-1 international network, completely redundant and with a grid topology, guarantees total availability and optimal transport of customer’s data traffic at all times and is capable of providing different levels of service quality, adapting to the needs of both fixed and mobile phone operators as well as ISPs.

LINX Scotland Becomes 100G Enabled Due to Capacity Demands

LINX have increased network port capacity at their UK regional interconnection facility, LINX Scotland, to offer 100G connections, following member demand. The first 100G member in provisioning there is rural broadband providers Voneus.

Joe Jefford, Network Engineer for LINX says: “The equipment we had in Scotland was only 1G and 10G capable. We have now installed a Juniper MX240 on the LAN to provide the 100G connection for our new member, as a temporary solution. We will monitor the demand for 100G in Scotland and further upgrades will then be planned for the network.”

This upgrade in Scotland mirrors the solution initially put in place at LINX’s peering platform in Manchester which now has grown to a 17 x 100G port facility and counting.

The Scottish Government released a strategic document last year that focuses on how the country plans to evolve and thrive in a digital world. LINX continue to support the digital footprint in Scotland as they work alongside local organisations like Host in Scotland in this journey.

At the LINX115 virtual member meeting on the 22nd February, LINX recognised the achievements of our LINX ConneXions Reseller Partners in a special online awards ceremony. It is the second year in a row where we have been forced by COVID restrictions to announce the winners online. We very much hope we will be able to this in-person in 2023.

Tech Study and Careers for Girls

In the first full episode of series three of LINXcast we‘ll be asking why there aren’t more females in the UK choosing to study computing and technology. What can be done to encourage more young people to consider careers in our industry?

To help find out more we have an interview with two computer science students, Silvia Gelina and Hamnah Rassen, who LINX invited in on work experience. They will be joined by LINX’s Anne Bates, Head of Exchange Platforms who will tell us about the development program being run by LINX.
