Hammond: tax relief on fibre

Posted by malcolm on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016 at 16:34

The Chancellor of the Exchequor Philip Hammond has announced 100% rate relief on new fibre infrastructure in the Autumn Statement.

Answering critics of the non-domestic business rate on fibre networks, known as the fibre tax, Hammond has announced that there will be 100% rate relief on new fibre deployments, as part of a £1bn investment in new network infrastructure. This will be warmly welcomed by ISPs, many of whom had expressed scepticism of government financial support for fibre investment while the fibre tax was in place.

With over 770 members connecting from over 76 different countries worldwide, LINX members have access to direct routes from a large number of diverse international peering partners.
