Nominet’s Stakeholder Committee is considering developing policy for how Nominet might revoke domain name allocations for domains associated with criminal activity. The issue has been raised by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), which has prepared a discussion paper.

In December 2009 Nominet deleted 1219 domains that were being used to support criminal activity, in response to a police instruction.
