Regulator Ofcom pledges to investigate why some places don’t have broadband

Ofcom has revealed that 3G mobile coverage in the UK is lacking significantly in some parts.  They have now pledged to investigate why so many are failing to get any coverage.  Part of that investigation will also focus on the varying speeds in different areas at different times of the day.

The question now remains whether 3G services can provide the speeds needed by consumers who are connecting to the web via a wireless network.  Reserach shows that the average download speed achieved with mobile broadband was just under 1MBps.

With over 770 members connecting from over 76 different countries worldwide, LINX members have access to direct routes from a large number of diverse international peering partners.
