The past week saw two expansions to the UK High Court’s piracy blocklist.
Last Tuesday, the Publishers Association obtained a court order requiring the UK’s largest consumer broadband providers to block a number of ebook sharing sites, all of which are based overseas.
Richard Mollet, Chief Executive of the Publishers Association, said:
We are very pleased that the High Court has granted this order and, in doing so, recognizes the damage being inflicted on UK publishers and authors by these infringing websites.
This was followed by the news that ISPs had been ordered to block three sports streaming sites - Rojadirecta, LiveTV and Drakulastream – as a result of legal action by The Football Association and Premier League Limited.
The ISPs affected are Virgin Media, Sky, BT, TalkTalk and EE.
