2019 LINX Fees and Price Cuts Approved

Port Fee Reductions of 15% on both London LANs, as well as at LINX NoVA, approved by LINX membership

LINX have committed to significantly reducing 10GE and 100GE port fees on its LON1 and LON2 networks in London, and at its regional exchange LINX NoVA in Northern Virginia, USA. This was ratified by a vote by LINX members at an Extraordinary General Meeting in London at the LINX103 member conference.

In summary the following new monthly port fees will apply from 1st January 2019:


  • 1GE – No charge for first port (£219 for second and subsequent ports)
  • 10GE – £638 (previously £750)
  • 100GE – £3596 (previously £4230)


  • 1GE – No charge for first port (£97 for second and subsequent ports)
  • 10GE – £360 (previously £424)
  • 100GE – £2277 (previously £2679)


  • 1GE – No charge
  • 10GE – US$425 (previously US$500)
  • 100GE – US$2720 (previously US$3200)

LINX103 EGM Summary

Here is a brief summary of proceedings of the EGM session at LINX103.

The following proposals were passed following voting:

  • The appointment by the Board of Murray Steele as Chairman for a further and final term of up to three years commencing 1st November 2018 was approved
  • The 2019 LINX Budget for the 12 months from 1st January 2019 was approved
  • The LINX Board remuneration for the 12 months from 1st January 2019 was approved
  • A series of clauses from the LINX Memorandum of Understanding were adapted and/or deleted.

LINX Round Up

LON2 on the Road

LINX are the first Internet exchange in the world to have successfully deployed a disaggregated network approach using EVPN technology. Over the past few weeks LINX staff have been out on the road to share the story of our success

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners Edgecore Networks and IP Infusion for being part of the journey. From concept to deployment, the story of LINX’s LON2 project has been of great interest to members and other networks and IXPs around the world. So far 18 UK and international presentations have been made with a further three to be made before the end of the year.

  • NIX.CZ – Prague, Czech Republic (29th November)
  • TOP-IX – Turin, Italy (4th December)
  • – Sao Paulo, Brazil (11th/12th December)

LINX Join the MANRS IXP Programme

LINX announced a few weeks ago that it had joined the MANRS IXP Programme and will be supporting the MANRS initiative. Malcolm Hutty, Head of Public Affairs at LINX says:

  • “MANRS is an important initiative for promoting best practices for routing security. LINX is pleased to support it, and to encourage others to follow its guidance, for all our protection”
