Therefore the four host IXPs – LINX, AMS-IX, DE-CIX and Netnod – are now staging a virtual EPF as a scaled down online event, with a limited presentation agenda and 2.5 days of meeting slots on our online meeting tool.

Public Affairs Policy Matters

In a series of three blogs by Malcolm Hutty, the LINX Head of Public Affairs provides an overview of some of the most significant policy matters that the Public Affairs team is engaging with at the current time.

Content Regulation

As online platforms have become increasingly central to the online experience, governments have responded by demonstrating an increased appetite to regulate the content that they host, arguing that this is necessary to protect users from harmful content. The results can be seen in two significant pieces of proposed legislation: the UK Online Harms White Paper and the EU Digital Services Act.

In addition to content, the other area attracting increased Government scrutiny is security. In July 2019, the UK Government published the findings from its UK Telecoms Supply Chain Review, which identified a range of security risks and threats, and announced its intention to establish a new security framework for telecoms operators.
