Simon Woodhead and Neil McRae elected to LINX Board at the 2019 LINX AGM
The LINX Board Election results are in. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Neil McRae (BT) back to the Board and also congratulate our current Chairman, Simon Woodhead (Simwood) for his re-election.
Neil had previously served on the Board for many years. Under the LINX Board terms of office he was required to stand down after three terms but was entitled to stand again after a year. Simon is now in his second three year term.

LINX Announces CEO’s Retirement and Names Successor
On Wednesday 29th May long-standing LINX CEO, John Souter, announced his intention to retire at the end of 2019.
John has served as LINX CEO for the last 18+ years, whilst the exchange point has grown from around 100 to the 885 ASNs that are connected today. Current CMO, Kurtis Lindqvist, has been confirmed as his successor.
Kurtis said: “I am very honoured to have been selected as the next CEO for LINX. Under John’s leadership, LINX has become recognised as the worlds leading membership Internet Exchange and seen a tremendous growth. John has built a fantastic team at LINX and I look forward to leading LINX and the team, at a time when the interconnection market is changing.”
We are pleased to announce Telxius as an official LINX ConneXions Partner.
The news was initially announced at LACNIC31 in the Domincan Republic and follows increased interest from their customer base in wanting to join LINX and start peering in London from South America.
New LINX Manchester traffic peak
We have exciting news to share today regarding our regional exchange in the north west of England, LINX Manchester. Peak traffic is up by 8.6% on the month and we have now reached the twin milestones of more than 100 members and in excess of than 100G of traffic!
Hurricane Electric establishes PoP at LINX Scotland
LINX member Hurricane Electric has added a new PoP at Pulsant‘s South Gyle data centre in Edinburgh.
This is HE’s first PoP in Scotland and their 11th in the UK as a whole. Remarkably this take’s the total number of European PoPs to 68 and 201 worldwide.
Hurricane Electric’s Walt Wollny gave a very interesting presentation at LINX105 on peering security. You can find access the slides from this talk below.
June again looks set to be a busy period for members and staff travelling to telecom industry events.

It has been a busy time for LINX CEO John Souter. He recently spoke at the FinTech World Forum in Kensington, London, which is a market that is expected to see many new members in the coming years.
John also took part in a panel session during CCT2019 in Dublin where they addressed ‘Business Automation and Alternative Interconnect Models’. CCT2019 was the inaugural gathering of executive leaders from cloud and web-scale providers, telecom carriers/service providers, content/OTT providers and data centre/interconnect platform providers.
