LINX109, AGM & Board Elections

LINX109 will take place from 14:00 BST on Wednesday 6th May. It will begin with a CEO update from Kurtis Lindqvist which will include a quarterly activity summary plus details of a multicast LAN consultation. CFO Malcolm Holt will then provide a status of the LINX 2019 accounts and a 2020 year to date financial performance. This will be followed by the LINX Annual General Meeting, overseen by new LINX Chairman, Pieter Knook, which starts at 14:30 BST.

In this short video Kurtis Lindqvist explain the importance of voting in the AGM and Board elections.

2020 LINX AGM Notice

The LINX Technology update will feature developments on the LINX peering LANs, how the network is coping with the current increase in traffic demand, as well as how LINX is delivering new services to members.

LINX Head of Public Affairs, Malcolm Hutty will provide a general Public Affairs review while Cybersecurity Manager, Daniel Smith will present on LINX’s Pandemic Preparation and Response. Finally, there will be a panel session entitled Network Operations under Coronavirus: Operational Challenges and Government Oversight.

Hosted by our Head of Public Affairs, Malcolm Hutty, this session will explore the operational challenges and government oversight in the current pandemic with a number of key industry panellists

2020 has been a remarkable year that has seen incredible changes to the whole fabric of society, how we communicate and do business all around the world. In a specially written blog LINX CEO, Kurtis Lindqvist, looks at how Internet traffic has been affected by this global crisis.

As one of the world’s largest Internet interconnection hubs, and one that publishes public statistics on Internet traffic, LINX is often asked for insights into how a major world event such as Coronavirus affects Internet traffic. The government, especially in the early stages of the crisis when it was less confident, eagerly sought out data that would inform it whether the Internet would “keep working”.

These questions, however, conflate a lot of different kinds of assumptions about the nature of Internet traffic, how it is delivered, and what is important.

LINX Presents – Wireshark: Hints & Tips webinar

LINX held a two hour webinar in partnership with Systems & Network Training on Thursday 23rd April with trainer Brian Rushby. Among the topics covered are packet analysis, plumbing and working efficiently.

We had over 130 people join us for this first in the LINX Presents series. The webinar was recorded and is available to watch again now via LINX’s YouTube channel.

LINX Looking Glass Tool Improvements

LINX Senior Network Engineer, Mo Shivji, has published a technical blog about developments for the LINX Looking Glass tool.

“With the success OS deployment of Ubuntu on all the the LINX route-servers, the replacement of Quagga with BIRD and successful enabling of RPKI on them, the next step for the route-servers is for a replacement Looking-Glass tool.”

LINX publishes 2019 Annual Report

LINX has published its 2019 annual report and accounts ahead of the exchange’s first ever online only AGM.

2019 was a momentous year for many reasons with LINX celebrating its 25th anniversary in November. The year also saw long serving CEO, John Souter, step down to be succeeded by Kurtis Lindqvist.
