The London Internet Exchange (LINX) and Japan Internet Xing (JPIX) are pleased to announce the expansion of their successful interconnection service, now enabling networks peering at LINX in London to reach JPIX in Japan.
This development builds on the strong foundation established in 2018, when LINX and JPIX first partnered to allow networks in Japan to peer remotely with LINX in London.
That service has since seen significant uptake, with the bandwidth between London and Tokyo doubling since the route was initiated. This collaborative service enables Japanese networks to meet unique peers and access unique European content, including the BBC and major sports content.
With the growing global demand for Japanese digital content, particularly in areas such as anime, manga, and gaming, the need for reciprocal access has become increasingly clear.
In response, LINX and JPIX have extended their collaboration to allow networks connected at LINX in London to peer directly with JPIX in Tokyo.
Halil Kama of LINX, commented:
“This is what we do best at LINX, we collaborate with our partners and fellow IXPs, listen to the demand from the global community and deliver where we can. The partnership with JPIX allows us to bring unique content closer to our community and now with this new service we can do the same for the Japanese peering community.”
Tetsuya Hamada, Senior Executive Expert of JPIX, added:
“The success of our initial collaboration with LINX demonstrated the value of international peering. By enabling networks in London to reach JPIX, we’re opening new doors for content exchange and improving user experience across continents.”
This enhanced service will be available in the coming weeks and offers a cost-effective, high-performance solution for networks looking to expand their global reach and content delivery capabilities.

Meet with the LINX and JPIX teams at Peering Asia this week in to discuss your options for peering and more at LINX in London of JPIX in Tokyo.
