WaveX Becomes First Reseller Partner of Both LINX Operated Interconnection Sites in Kenya

The London Internet Exchange (LINX) is pleased to announce that WaveX, one of Kenya’s most dynamic and fast-growing Internet Service Providers, has joined LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa as an official reseller partner, the first to resell at both sites.

WaveX delivers high-performance internet services across Kenya, offering lightning-fast connectivity designed for seamless streaming, gaming, and browsing.

By reselling at both LINX operated IXPs in Kenya, WaveX are effectively providing a route to each exchange for networks without a physical presence, but needing to pick up network traffic.

This new partnership will enable even more networks across East Africa to seamlessly access peering services and more at LINX, supporting improved regional connectivity, reduced latency, and enhanced network resilience.

Strengthening Connectivity Across East Africa

The addition of WaveX as a reseller partner supports LINX’s mission to improve interconnection opportunities across Kenya. LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa continue to attract networks looking for high-quality, neutral interconnection points that reduce dependence on long-haul routes while keeping African traffic local.

LINX has experienced impressive growth in Kenya since their arrival in Nairobi back in November 2023. The internet exchange there is a neutral and interconnected platform across four of the key data centres in the capital.

Peak traffic at LINX Nairobi nearly quadrupled compared to 2024 reaching an impressive 64.5Gbps, a growth rate of 289% in 2025.

LINX Mombasa, launched in February of 2025 and is already making significant progress as a strategic coastal interconnection hub reaching over 1Tb of connected capacity in its first year of operation.

Patrick Mbogo, Interconnection Specialist for Africa at LINX, commented:

“We’re delighted to welcome WaveX as a reseller partner for LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa. Their reputation for delivering high-speed, reliable connectivity in Kenya makes them an ideal partner for supporting the continued growth of our East African exchanges. Together, we’ll help even more networks benefit from the performance and economic advantages of local peering.”

Cyrus Mbitao, CTO at WaveX, said:

“Joining LINX as a reseller partner represents an important milestone for WaveX. We remain focused on delivering high-quality internet experiences to our customers, and enabling access to LINX Nairobi and LINX Mombasa aligns directly with that objective. Through this partnership, we aim to extend world-class peering opportunities to networks across Kenya while contributing to the continued growth and resilience of the region’s digital ecosystem.”

Driving Growth in Kenya’s Digital Ecosystem

With digital transformation accelerating across East Africa, Kenya overtaking Nigeria as the key digital hub on the continent, the availability of local, scalable interconnection options has never been more important. LINX’s partnership with WaveX will help other ISPs in Kenya also benefit from low latency peering with global content, for improved experience for customers and end users.
