LINX Looking Glass Tool Improvements

“With the success OS deployment of Ubuntu on all the the LINX route-servers, the replacement of Quagga with BIRD and successful enabling of RPKI on them, the next step for the route-servers is for a replacement

Looking-Glass tool.

The current Route-Server Looking Glass was developed in-house back in 2004 when all the route-servers were Quagga based. When BIRD was introduced in 2010 the Route-Server Looking-Glass was hacked to function with BIRD . Its operation with the BIRD route-servers has been sub-optimal and we have now decided that with all LINX Route-Servers running BIRD we can now take the opportunity to see if Alice-LG/Birdwatcher is a good replacement .

Some minor testing has taken place and we will now continue testing in our lab during this lockdown period. I will be working with other LINX Technology staff with continued testing and hopefully rollout Alice-LG and Birdwatcher into production as the default Looking-Glass tool for the LINX Route-Servers in the coming months.”
