BICS Extends LINX Presence to Kenya and Becomes First Reseller Partner of LINX Nairobi

BICS, an international connectivity provider and existing member and partner of the London Internet Exchange (LINX) in London, has extended its presence to LINX Nairobi, the new interconnection hub in Kenya.

LINX Nairobi is set to meet the digital demands and growth predicted for the region in the coming years. The exchange is now live from multiple data centres across Nairobi and LINX is pleased to be welcoming BICS to LINX Nairobi, as together they provide additional routes and interconnection services to the region.

Established in 2004, BICS is a leading global connectivity provider, offering a comprehensive portfolio of communication services, including voice, messaging, data, and IoT solutions. With a presence in over 200 countries and territories, they serve the world’s largest and most demanding service providers, businesses, and global enterprises. BICS is passionate about the power of communications and feels it is more important than ever to move beyond phone calls and messaging, particularly in Africa.

Abdelkader Najja, VP Middle East & Africa, BICS, said,

“We are excited to connect into LINX Nairobi and support the project here for the good of the local internet. BICS’ extensive experience and global network, including our existing partnership with LINX in London, will contribute to the growth of LINX Nairobi’s ecosystem, and we look forward to empowering businesses and the community with faster, more reliable online services.”

BICS has been concentrating its efforts on improving digital services across Africa in recent years. By joining LINX Nairobi, BICS is able to provide networks with routes into the new Internet Exchange Point in Nairobi from anywhere on its network.

According to the GSMA, by the end of the decade, there will be more than 340 million 5G connections in Africa, BICS appreciates its LINX connection in Kenya will be a key element to delivering increased services in this region.

Inga Turner, Global Account Manager for LINX says;

“We are pleased to see our existing LINX members and Diamond Reseller partners BICS supporting our first project in Africa. We have a common goal to assist the strengthening of Kenya’s digital ecosystem in the coming years, and with BICS on board assisting networks with their transport to our new hub, we are on our way to achieving this goal.”
