LINX Brings the Buzz to Manchester Tech Week

Manchester Tech Week is here—and LINX is right at the heart of the action.

As the North of England continues to strengthen its position as a leading UK digital hub, community, collaboration and connectivity have never been more important. That’s why LINX is proud to be an active participant this week—supporting the people, partners and platforms helping Manchester’s tech ecosystem thrive.

Strengthening Our Commitment to the Northern Digital Community

A key milestone in LINX’s journey in the region has been joining Manchester Digital, the North West’s trade body for the digital and technology sector. Becoming a member reflects our commitment to supporting collaboration, knowledge‑sharing and long‑term investment in the Northern digital economy.

Manchester Digital plays a vital role in bringing together businesses, public sector organisations and technology leaders, and we’re excited to be part of that community—working alongside others who believe in building strong, inclusive digital infrastructure across the North. For LINX, it’s another way of ensuring we’re closely aligned with the needs and ambitions of the region we serve.

A Connected North Starts with Local Interconnection

LINX Manchester has rapidly become a key place for networks to interconnect in the North, helping to keep local traffic local while delivering lower latency, improved performance and increased resilience. The exchange is buzzing right now, reflecting a growing demand for regional infrastructure that supports both national and global connectivity.

That momentum is backed by real results. LINX Manchester was the fastest‑growing LINX‑operated exchange in the UK in 2025 for both traffic and capacity, highlighting the confidence networks have in Manchester as a place to connect, grow and scale.

Visiting Datum’s New MCR2 Data Centre

As part of Manchester Tech Week, LINX will be spending time with long‑standing partner Datum on Tuesday 28 April, hosting a number of prospective networks and LINX members for networking and touring Datum’s newly opened MCR2 data centre.

This visit showcases the continued investment being made in secure, high‑performance data centre infrastructure in the North West. Facilities like MCR2 play a crucial role in enabling scalable, resilient interconnection at LINX Manchester, supporting everything from local enterprises to global network operators.

Seeing this infrastructure in action is a powerful reminder of how collaboration between Internet Exchanges and data centre partners underpins a healthy, future‑ready digital ecosystem.

Lunar Digital at DTX Manchester

The week continues on Wednesday 29 April as LINX buddies up with Lunar Digital at DTX Manchester, one of the flagship technology events in the region to discuss everything from colocation to peering and more!

DTX Manchester brings together technology leaders, network operators, digital businesses and policymakers from across the UK, making it the perfect setting to talk about the role of regional Internet Exchanges, the importance of interconnection, and the part Manchester plays in the wider UK internet landscape.

Working alongside Lunar Digital highlights the value of collaboration across connectivity, digital strategy and innovation—helping organisations make smarter, more sustainable technology decisions.

Building the Future of Connectivity in the North

Manchester Tech Week is a timely reminder that the North is not just keeping pace—it’s leading. With strong community organisations like Manchester Digital, ongoing investment from data centre partners, and a growing interconnection ecosystem, LINX Manchester is helping future‑proof connectivity for the region.

Whether it’s through local engagement, national events or everyday interconnection traffic flowing across the exchange, LINX remains committed to supporting Manchester’s digital growth story.

If you’re in the city this week, come and say hello. The energy is real, the growth is tangible, and LINX Manchester is proud to be part of the Northern digital community.
