LINX and stc to Establish IXPs in Saudi Arabia

LINX and stc announce the expansion of interconnection services with new IXPs in Riyadh and Dammam to complement JEDIX in Jeddah.

The aim of the stc-LINX partnership has always been to improve the quality of KSA’s internet while rapidly evolving into to the preferred digital interconnection hub to serve the Middle East. The expansion of JEDIX to Dammam and Riyadh builds on this ambition.

The new partnership agreement was signed at Capacity Middle East in March

The new sites in Riyadh and Dammam are due to launch later this year and will not only mark the stc and LINX interconnection footprint as the largest in the Middle East, but it also creates a complete digital solution.

Mohammed AlAbbadi, Chief Wholesale Officer stc says: “With JEDIX expansion the new sites will complement our initiative in establishing a major digital hub for the Middle East and North Africa, ensuring the leading position for KSA across the ICT sector and continue to highlight our role as the leading player in the region.”

Kurtis Lindqvist CEO for LINX says: “We are really looking forward to growing our technical solution with stc and the new interconnection hubs this year. The growth of JEDIX has proved that the region is thriving digitally and together we are providing the solutions and the infrastructure to support this going forward.”

Driving Digital Transformation for the Energy Sector

LINX, BSO and Stelllium Datacenters are working in partnership to provide a digital solution that can securely and efficiently manage, store and transfer large volumes of data for customers within the energy sector.

Halil Kama, Interconnection Specialist for LINX said: “We are excited to be working with Stellium and BSO to support the energy sector as they plan and evolve into a more digital network setup. By connecting to our interconnection platforms in London, Manchester or Scotland, networks can meet other crucial networks including ISPs and set up direct peering arrangements securely for redundant data transfer. This is a new audience for LINX, but an important one and we feel that working with our partners we can ensure a smooth and future proof transition for these networks.”

LINX, Stellium Data Centres – The Data Meridian and BSO hosted a hybrid event on Wednesday, 13 April to showcase to oil and gas businesses how datacentres can support data demands at drill sites and onshore. The event is being held in partnership with global infrastructure and connectivity provider BSO and the London Internet Exchange (LINX), one of Europe’s largest internet exchange points.
