AtlasEdge and LINX Announce Strategic Partnership in Manchester, UK

LINX, one of Europe’s largest internet exchanges and AtlasEdge, a leading pan-European Edge data centre provider, have announced a new partnership, expanding the presence and offering of both companies in Manchester, UK.

The partnership will accelerate the transformation of AtlasEdge’s existing Manchester site into a interconnectivity hub, with customers able to benefit from connection to LINX’s members and services in Manchester.

LINX Manchester is the Internet Exchange Point for the north of the UK, where over 150 networks, national and international, are present and peering. The interconnection hub run by LINX is close to hitting 400Gbps of traffic, making it one of the larger exchange points in Europe.

AtlasEdge announced the expansion of its existing Manchester site in December 2022. The new facilities will provide colocation IT capacity and low-latency services to AtlasEdge’s end users, allowing near-instant connectivity and collaboration. LINX currently has a physical technical set up in five data centre locations in Manchester.

The demand for regional interconnection services in the UK has risen considerably in recent years and both AtlasEdge and LINX are capturing opportunities to deliver increased capacity driven by customer-led demand.

Jennifer Holmes, CCO for LINX said;

“With the continued growth in demand for LINX Manchester, we are really pleased to be able to be partnering with AtlasEdge. Manchester has such a vibrant digital scene right now and provides such a diverse hub for interconnection from London.”

Dan Thomas, SVP Sales, AtlasEdge also commented;

“We are delighted to be collaborating with LINX, one of the world’s leading internet exchange points”, commented  “This move bolsters our service offering in one of the UK’s fastest-growing digital and media hubs, allowing our customers to significantly scale their peering relationships.”

Manchester is the home of the smart urban environment, MediaCityUK, and is working on intentions to become an internationally recognised digital city with the launch of its own digital strategy, a step forwards that will complement the ambitions of both AtlasEdge and LINX.
